Description

Your tour begins at your hotel where one of our fantastic adventure guides will pick you up in our private van. Ride to Santiago del Teide, a wonderful hiking destination with many trails that provide excellent views to the valleys, the Teno Mountains and Mount Teide.

The starting point of the hike is in Valle de Arriba, a short distance from the town of Santiago del Teide. Along the route, your adventure guide will share insights into the area’s history, culture, climate and terrain. The hiking trail travels through the unspoilt countryside with lush vineyards, as well as almond and fig trees along the way.

The almond is a species of tree native to Mediterranean climate regions. Almonds were one of the earliest domesticated fruit trees on the island, and they can be found in abundance in the fertile valleys of Santiago del Teide.

Continue towards El Calvario and admire the lovely views along the way, including the volcano Teide in the distance. You will discover diverse vegetation from pine and eucalyptus trees to ancient laurisilva forests and Canarian palm trees.

After a short walk, you will arrive at the black lava fields surrounding the El Chinyero volcano. From here the trail leads to El Calvario de los Baldios, a shrine that marks the location where the flow of molten lava from the volcano eruption miraculously stopped in 1909. This peaceful location is also an ideal place to stop and enjoy a delicious picnic lunch.

The final section of the hike follows a well-maintained path bordering the Montaña de Tamaseche. Enjoy panoramic views to the north and south sides of the island as well as across to the coast from the highest point of the trail at 1100 meters above sea level.

After about 2 hours of hiking (including lunch break), you will arrive at the Ecomuseum of El Tanque. The museum hosts a fascinating exhibition where you will get to know the history and culture of the area through various audio-visual aids and interactive displays.
